Jody Lybrand

I am 51 years old  and have been married to Fred for 29 years. We have five wonderful children. I have a bachelors and masters degree in Education from the University of Alabama. Fred and I have home schooled all five children. At church I teach Children’s Sunday School and direct the Cubbie group in AWANA.

Tripp Lybrand

My name is Tripp Lybrand. I’ve been married to my wonderful wife Dani for almost a year now. I live in Midland, Texas and work for a non-profit organization as a systems analyst/modeler on public policy issues. My wife teaches math at a private Christian School (Midland Classical Academy) and we are both active in our church body. I received my BA in Studio Art from The University of Texas. I enjoy writing and reading the Bible, southern literature, poetry, and theology. I also enjoy deep friendships and deep conversations, which usually happen while backpacking, sitting around a fire, or even just hanging out.  Being homeschooled in the Lybrand Academy taught me how to be a self-learner, a skill which made my transition into college very easy, and my transition into the work world even easier. I am incredibly grateful for that gift. I know very few people who who were taught how to learn by their parents (but it’s never too late!).

Laura Lybrand

My name is Laura Lybrand.  I am 21 years old and will be graduating from Abilene Christian University in December of this year with a Bachelor of Communication. I am a very outgoing individual who loves to be around people and build relationships. Playing and watching multiple sports with friends is one of my favorite hobbies. I love to serve my community by being involved with several non-profit organizations in Abilene Texas. Church and Bible studies are the highlights of my week, and I enjoy pouring into (and being poured into by) fellow Christian brothers and sisters. I was home-schooled my entire life and I’m beyond thankful for that. I learned to teach myself and how to be disciplined to study and get my work done— which has shown to be very useful in my college career by allowing me to have time for everything else I am involved with without getting overwhelmed (and still making grades I’m happy with).

Forrest Lybrand

I’m Forrest Lybrand. I enjoy writing fiction, making comedy-sketch videos with friends, reading good books, and camping. I’m finishing up my freshman year of college at UTSA and will be transferring to the University of Texas in the Fall. Growing up, people always asked me skeptically whether or not I enjoyed homeschooling, but the truth is I really did. I feel like I learned just as much as my friends at public school did, and yet I had more free time during the day, because we always finished our work by lunchtime.

Holmes Lybrand

My names Holmes Lybrand, I’m 17 years old and have been home-schooled my entire life. I enjoy writing songs, playing the guitar for my Church’s Worship Team, and hanging out with friends. I am really involved with my youth group, serving on the student leadership team, worship band, and wherever else they need me. Right now I’m finishing up my junior year, working on my SAT prep, and looking at what college I want to attend.  Being homeschooled has been a real blessing to me; teaching me how to learn and how beneficial that skill really can be.

Brooks Lybrand

My name is Brooks Lybrand, and I am 14 years old. I’m Homeschool and in the 8th grade and am well into Saxon Calculus. I enjoy playing Piano and Guitar. I also play Bass Guitar for our Youth Worship Team at church. I am very involved in my church’s youth group and in Boy Scouts. I recently earned the highest rank in scouting, the rank of Eagle. I am also the Senior Patrol Leader of my troop. I enjoy reading as well as writing Imaginative/Fiction novels.
